Guest Post by Georgia - Taradale High Sport

Each year at Taradale Intermediate, several classes are lucky enough to have sports tuition by some students from Taradale High School, which is right next door to us.

We choose a sport and we then go over to the high school and have 4 sessions with two Year 12’s who are an expert in that sport.  They coach us for extra credits in NCEA.  The sports were Cricket, Handball, Soccer, Netball, Hockey, Softball, Problem Solving ABLs, Touch Rugby, Ultimate Frisbee, and Hip Hop and Jazz dancing.

Taradale High Sports are a great way to learn a new sport or improve on one you already play.  I think that the Taradale High sports are great and give people the experience they need.

Does your school have an exchange with any other schools?
Or do you do an event with another school annually?

  1. We have been busy preparing ourselves for the NZAIMS games in Tauranga, which are starting in twenty days. That might seem like a long way away but our students started preparing for them last year. We've got a Girls Basketball team and a week and a bit ago we played against another team as a warm up, they are also going to AIMS, the Fairfield Intermediate Boys Basketball team. We managed to beat them by 13 points so we were quite pleased with that, otherwise for our sport with have the Inter Intermediate Sports Competition which is all the Intermediates in Hamilton and down as far as Tokoroa.

  13. Dear Georgia,

I really enjoyed reading your post! You took some great photos of the different sports that you played. Which is your favorite? I am in 4th grade in California, and we don't have any events with other schools. Maybe because our school is already too big. We have about 600 students from kindergarten to 5th grade.

I love sports. I do gymnastics, tennis and swimming.

    Sincerely,
    Sarah
