Quad Blogging Round One

Quad blogging provides a fantastic opportunity for four classes from around the world to connect with each other.  We'll collaborate with each other through our class blogs.

Quad blogging works on a rotation.  Each week one class takes the spotlight and they will have a large audience viewing and responding to learning they've shared and activities they've posted on their blog.  For the three weeks a class isn't the focus blog they'll be looking at a different class blog each week and commenting on and responding to that class's learning.

The great thing about quad blogging is that we can improve our literacy skills and our thinking skillsshare our learning with a global audience, and make new friends.  This term we will be blogging with  The International School of Toulouse in France, Texas and World Discoveries in Texas, USA, and another class in the United Kingdom.

Highlands, UK

You can see quad blogging at it's very best by checking out these 2011 quad blog classes below (click on the name under each picture).  In the short time that I've been exploring blogging, I've learned so much from how these classes blog and the way they interact with each other.  They didn't just quad blog - they also worked on global projects together.  Some of the teachers in this quad have even collaborated through blogging for several years now!

Mr Salsich's class
Mrs Yollis' class
Mrs McKenzie's class
Mrs Morris' & Miss Jordan's class

We will be learning about blogging by looking at these and other quality blogs more closely.

What do you think of quad blogging?
What do you think we can share from our class, Hawke's Bay and New Zealand?
Did you find out how old the students from the 2011 quad are?
How can we ensure we reach the high standards they consistently display?

    1. Hi Cody

I'm thrilled to read that you like our blog! I like the way that you've noticed the presentation. Presentation is so important because it makes viewers and readers want to read more and find out more. We'll also be working on proof reading and editing our work this year as that's necessary for a high standard of presentation.

I've noticed that you're really tidy and I appreciate the effort you've put into your published work so far. Well done, Cody.

    1. Hi Briney

You're right one with their ages and the value of quad blogging. Isn't it nice to know that not everyone in the world is just like us - it makes it all more interesting.

I know we're going to have a fun year full of great learning!

  3. I think quad blogging is a great idea because you get to learn about other cultures and also about how others learn and what their country is like. well Mrs Yolli'sclass is third graders,Mrs Morris and Miss Jordan's studentsare mostly aged seven-eight,Mrs Macckenzie's students are year two-three and on the last blog it just says that Mr Salsich's class has twenty one creative students in. I think the best way is to persit and have a go at trying to write a post and also look at different blogs all the time,to update it alot and to add things that we do alot at school. well we could talk about our native plants and our native animals. Also about what the weather is like here and what the capital is, what is some good places to go if you were in New Zealand, history of New zealand.
    Yours Sincerely

I'm glad you're looking forward to learning about other cultures and other students in other parts of the world. I'm looking forward to it too!

You are right about 'PERSISTING'. What an excellent Habit of Mind for us to focus on as we keep our blog up to date and comment on others blogs. I'm looking forward to you helping us stay up-to-date.

Thank you for the way you completed your homework so well and so quickly!

    1. Hi Aimee

Thank you for posting your homework on here. You've included some great ideas about things that make us "Kiwis". Our next step is to decide on how we are going to present this. Will we place static photos with captions on our blog or will we use a slide show format? This is something for us to explore during our time in Room 11 this afternoon.
